Stash Building

A couple weeks ago a sweet lady from my church opened her home for us crafters to root through her stash. For Free! She joked that her husband would probably pay us to take it! Sadly I can't imagine Tommy not saying that in about 20 years.
Thanks Sherry!
Amazingly I actually have plans for some of this! The plaid black and white in the center is flannel and will be a great quilt back for a quilt I plan on making in about 3 years. The daisy fabric on top of that will back a quilt, maybe two I plan on making later this year. The blue on the right is waterproof outdoor nylon that I will use to make drawstring bags for our sleeping bags. And the tulips in the center is oil cloth which will make some fun make-up bags.

Connecting Threads
This lovely bunch is from Connecting Threads. I originally heard of this company through CrazyMomQuilts. I've only sewn with a tiny scrap so far, but I am in love. Amazing prices! I got all this for $85. And the colors are even more vibrant in person. After realizing I needed more solids and tone on tone prints, I knew where I needed to go. Right now they are having a March Madness Sale, and orders over $50 always have free shipping. And one last thing I love, charm packs, layer cakes and fat quarter prices are the same as yardage prices, they don't charge you to cut up the fabric!

Spool
My quilt guild asked us (back in October) to make name tags for our meetings. I kinda forgot/was uninspired until two nights ago. I laid in bed imagining designs and rearranging them in my head. I woke up still thinking about it and made this before we left for church yesterday.

My name tag!
And here is my finished product! The corners are lumpy and wonky, but I love it! This is the smallest piecing I've done. It's so nice to have an entire project finished in one day!

What kind of thread do you use for embroidery? I've got a project coming up and I want to use something that will withstand washing.
