One!
We celebrated Daniel's first birthday yesterday evening with some of our (therefore his) closest friends.
the present he got from Tommy and I
his smash cake
starting to dig in
He doesn't really like things all over his hands. He even started shaking his hands, flinging cake all over to get it off.
everything is better with milk
I surrender!
We had an excellent time at the party and were so thankful to have such wonderful friends and family to share it with!

Baby D's Quilt
I think to properly photograph quilts you are supposed to live in the country and have a clothesline. We live in the city and have community driers. Oh well.
I made this quilt and burp cloth for my sweet friend Martha. She is due with her third baby in September.
The pattern is called a Bento Box and if your husband is a spatial/mathematical genius like mine, you don't have to pay for the pattern! I loved working the the pink colors, they were so bright!
The back is a very bright pink flannel.
Here is the quilt all folded up. I must say my binding skills have greatly improved from my first attempt. The burp cloth had the same coordinating pink and green colors.
I can't wait to meet their sweet baby, and to find out her name! They aren't keeping it secret, the just haven't decided. What a blessing children are!

Chalk
I bought Daniel some sidewalk chalk a while back and we just brought it out Tuesday night. He was completely oblivious to the fact that it wrote on the ground. Instead he walked back and forth across the downstairs patio carrying the blue piece until it broke in half and he had a piece for each hand. He tried sucking on it which turned his mouth and snot blue. By the time we went inside his feet were black and hands and face blue. And he couldn't have cared less!

More to come
I've had a few posts rolling around in my head, but I'm trying to avoid doing anything too productive while it's still summer (except for quilting). Tommy's school starts up Thursday, mine starts next Monday. Expect more posts once school starts; I'll do anything to procrastinate schoolwork.

Daniel pretty much hates hats. and sunglasses. rips them right off.
