New Ride

About a month or so ago I sold my Neon which I have had since '99. It was tough watching it drive away. But now I am the happy owner of a new (to me) truck! It's a '94 Ford F-150 Super Cab, with relatively low miles, a 5.0 V8, Automatic, and a great 9low) pricetag.

It even came with a girl in it! She's cute, isn't she?

When we bought it Friday afternoon, it had the spare on, missing one of the aluminum wheels. So today I purchased the correct wheel and a tire this morning, but that leaves a few things to see if I can fix. For one, the cruise control doesn't seem to work. Second, the radio doesn't work...but the CD player does, so it might be a loose antenna wire. Everything else seems to work right, so I'm quite happy with it.

On another note, www.Craigslist.com is where I both bought and sold my vehicles. Check it out sometime.

Kodak Moment

During one of our last storms I pulled our potted plant away from the railing, startling our bird enough to see that she has two eggs. Of course I never have a camera when I need one, so this shot a minute later is the best I could do...and that is the last I have seen of the eggs. Mrs. Morning Dove has not moved from her spot since.

How long does it take for eggs like those to hatch? I ask because we are moving apartments in about two weeks, and I don't want momma bird to fly the coupe leaving us with her progeny. No one wants to see me chewing up food to feed little chicks...

Personality Profile

Openness Conscientious Extraverted Agreeable Neurotic

You:

Admiral Ackbar Grand Moff Tarkin Ewoks Emperor Palpatine Princess Leia

For one of my Psychology classes we had to take a personality inventory that breaks personality down into the "Big 5." These are the main factors of personality (according to this theory), and you can score high or low on any given trait. The test we had to take correlates your score to particular Star Wars characters. Pretty Amusing. Here's my score:

Openness to Experience/Intellect High scorers tend to be original, creative, curious, complex; Low scorers tend to be conventional, down to earth, narrow interests, uncreative.

Admiral Ackbar Your percentile: 12% You prefer traditional and familiar experiences.
Admiral Ackbar -- When Admiral Ackbar engages in battle, he does so by the book. His tactics are generally conservative preferring to avoid creative, risky, or novel plans except in rare circumstances.

Conscientiousness High scorers tend to be reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful; Low scorers tend to be disorganized, undependable, negligent.

Grand Moff Tarkin Your percentile: 58% You are neither organized or disorganized.
Grand Moff Tarkin -- Is in the middle of conscientiousness because although he is usually a highly organized leader with a keen eye for detail, he occasionally misses a small but crucial detail (e.g., vulnerable exhaust ports on death stars).

Extraversion High scorers tend to be sociable, friendly, fun loving, talkative; Low scorers tend to be introverted, reserved, inhibited, quiet.

Ewoks Your percentile: 53% You are neither particularly social or reserved.
Ewoks -- A species with extraverted and introverted tendencies. On one hand they are a shy, timid, and reclusive species. On the other hand, they are very sociable, living in groups, placing great emphasis of interpersonal relations.

Agreeableness High scorers tend to be good natured, sympathetic, forgiving, courteous; Low scorers tend to be critical, rude, harsh, callous.

Emperor Palpatine Your percentile: 10% You find it easy to criticize others.
Emperor Palpatine -- An evil, power hungry tyrant, he is manipulative, evil, and ruthless.

Neuroticism High scorers tend to be nervous, high-strung, insecure, worrying; Low scorers tend to be calm, relaxed, secure, hardy.

Princess Leia Your percentile: 18% You probably remain calm, even in tense situations.
Princess Leia -- A confident & calm individual who does not crack under pressure (e.g.,. when being threatened by Lord Vader). She is brave and relaxed, even when in great danger (e.g., when disguising herself as a bounty hunter to gain access to Jabba the Hutt’s palace).

Watched

Our fine feathered friend is back. Jessi has already blogged about my being startled on Saturday by a flurry of feathers coming from a potted plant on our porch, but since then I was afraid I had scared the birds away. But, as I was reading a book on the porch tonight, I noticed I was being watched intently. The bird was not so flighty today, and cooperated as I ventured back and forth between the porch and apartment to take a couple pictures. While God's eye is on the sparrow, this dove's eye was always on me. I hope it stays a while.

Finds

My first find is some cute and super cheap baby clothes at Kohl's. I got 4 outfits for my baby, and 4 for a friend who found out she's having twins!

I got all 4 of these outfits for less than $12! I also bought my first pack of diapers last night, they were on sale and I had a coupon. I've had several friends tell me what a good idea it is to stock up some before baby comes so you aren't as overwhelmed all at once.

My second find was actually Tommy's find.

He went outside with a load of laundry this morning and was started by several birds on our porch. Apparently, they were/are in the process of building a nest in one of my plants!

My last find was the cord to my camera. On Christmas Eve last year I didn't have the card in my camera and so the pictures I took saved directly to the camera, and I needed the cord to get them off.

Free Food

Yesterday Tommy and I went to lunch together. He had to drop me off at work because he took the car to San Antonio, and I'm borrowing my bosses truck. I decided we should go to Panera Bread.. yummy. It was packed there, Friday lunch, go figure, but we decided to wait. I ordered my half sandwich and salad and we found an open table. Our food arrived shortly and we began to eat. I was about halfway through with my salad when what did I see with my next bite... a dead fly on my fork. Disgusting. I totally realize that when you've got fresh produce that happens.. but eww!
So I took my bowl and fork to the counter and showed the manager. I thought they handled it well, apologized and offered me a new salad. I told them my salad appetite was gone. (I still wanted my sandwich!) So he asked me if I still had my receipt and credit card and refunded our whole meal! Free lunch! The manager apologized again and told us he hoped it wasn't our first time in and offered again to get me something else. We were understanding and said no it wasn't our first time, and wouldn't be our last.

So then on my way home from work in my bosses ginormous truck I started dinner brainstorming. I didn't want to drive his truck all over, cause even though I'm a good driver, wrecking your bosses truck is just not cool! Order pizza for delivery! Perfect idea. So, I set up an online Pizza Hut account so I can just order online. Somehow I chose carry out instead of delivery... dangit! So I climb into the truck and drive to where I thought the Pizza Hut was.
Here I am, driving all over to get dinner, just what I was trying to avoid. I finally found the Pizza Hut, thinking about how long its been sitting under the heat lamp and go in to pick it up. They screwed up my order. Half of it had chicken sausage on it... I didn't even know they had chicken sausage.. and eww gross! They tell me I can wait 15 minutes while they make the new one.
I had to stand next to the elderly lady with a cane because 4 inconsiderate men were sitting on the only bench.
Finally my pizza comes up and the cashier asks me if I had a coupon for a free large pizza. No, I didn't. Well apparently someone entered the sku for my pizza to be free.
Two free meals in one day!?!

It's a....

BOY!!

Here are his feet...
and his head, though it looks kinda alien-like, you can also see the spine and some of the ribs

and you can see his little hand by his face... when I saw him move in there I started to cry!

Everything else looked great, and confirmed what we thought, I'm about 19-20 weeks along.
