Strip Twist

I bookmarked this tutorial a while back and was excited to finally get to use it. I used a jelly roll from JoAnns and the backing and border are some of what I picked up at Golden D'or. The quilt came together very quickly despite several hiccups with the actual quilting.

Each care group in my church contributes a door prize for our Women's Retreat. Our leader's wife asked if I would be willing to make something. I am so glad she asked.

I love this simple strip on the back, it adds a little something without being too busy.

I used some large free-motion quilting so it would be nice and soft.

Last Supper

Upon seeing a print of The Last Supper yesterday at Mardel,
Daniel told the disciples:
Turn around and eat your breakfast!

Playing Outside

It appears my son has just discovered the joy of sharing his food with Midnite. And while this is not a habit I generally approve of, I must admit it is so sweet to see Daniel have a playmate.

Though I feel a tad guilty about keeping Midnite in her crate while we are gone and at night, she does wonderfully in it! It's also nice not to feel anxious wondering what she might be getting into in her new home. We are unsure if this will be a long term thing but for now it's great. We have also enjoyed taking her for walks, she's had 4 in the 40 hours she's been with us!

We began talking more seriously about getting a dog back in December, discussing what we were looking for and what we wanted to avoid. Things fell together with Midnite in a way only God could have orchestrated. There is such peace in that. We serve a mighty God who is not too busy to show his love in even the smallest of things.

Midnite seems to enjoy the backyard, and the fact that the surrounding yards contain no less than six dogs. Six dogs whose barking we have listened to incessantly over the past year. I feel no guilt when they now wake-up their owners at 6:30am when Tommy takes Midnite out.

Maybe I'm crazy but I love those dirty little feet.

"Shake"

It's pretty hard to get decent pictures of them together; they both move pretty fast and usually in different directions!

Midnite

Today Tommy and I welcome a new addition to the family, Midnite. She is a lab-shar pei mix, about one year old. Daniel adores her already.

I Know My...

I hope you enjoy this video because it took for.ev.er. to load. Sorry if the volume is low, don't know what's up with that.

Had We Known

Had we known Tommy would have 4 days off from work due to icy weather we would have:

-taken a trip to a warmer climate
-redone the master bath
-potty trained Daniel

Instead we:

-ate like Hobbits
-slept
-fought over how to handle a loaf of banana bread

Snowy Day

The weather here in Fort Worth never ceases to amaze. High 60s this past weekend, and today it is well below freezing! The new this morning even mentioned a -2 wind chill here! I believe it. We went outside briefly. Yep, it's cold.
You can see the snow we had last year here, we had quite a bit more, enough to actually build snowmen and such. The snow today is not good for much except making me cold.

Hey Dad, Stop throwing snow at me!

Daniel slipped in the ice, but Tommy was nearby to catch him.

We had a good bit of sleet early this morning which then turned to ice, lots and lots of ice.

Daniel wants to go back out, but since my big toe is still regaining feeling, I'm doubtful that will happen.

In other news, we got new toilets which Tommy installed for us. They are low-flo so I am curious to see if they make a difference in our water bill.
