I also made a quilt for my Mother in law this Christmas.
The pattern is a disappearing nine patch which was pretty fun to work with. I really like the border that I added around the edge of the front. Originally I was going to use it on the back, but it wasn't quite large enough.
The back is somewhat pieced, using some fabric my grandmom gave to me and some large leftover scraps from the fabrics used for the front.
Though I'm not much for red, white and blue as a color scheme, I think they do go together very well. And it's hanging from a clothesline, so it has to look good!
